On August 27, 2023, Pastor Cory Engel resigned as Lead Pastor of Harvest Springs after 23 faithful years of serving the church. The Elder Board has charted a course moving forward, beginning with the first phase, assessing the overall ministry of Harvest Springs, and our needs moving forward. In consultation with the Interim Coach, Steve Strutz, the Elder Board is assessing the staff's roles and responsibilities to continue moving toward healthy and fruitful ministry throughout the church. Once the assessment phase is complete, the Elders Board will determine how best to navigate forward into the new and exciting season ahead for Harvest Springs. In the meantime, the Elder Board has complete confidence in the pastoral and administrative staff  and the Church to continue the current ministry at Harvest Springs.

Here's a most recent update as of September 16, 2023:

1. Paul Hansen was assigned being the "first among equals" to guide staff and church as we move ahead. Paul will maintain his current role as Executive Pastor, just as the rest of the staff will maintain their current roles, equally working together as one team.

2. We will continue with our current staff without hiring another lead Pastor right away. We have a good staff but this time will:

  • Allow for them to develop as a team, and gain a Vision for the future of our Church that a Lead Pastor can come alongside and join
  • Give us a chance to assess some things like roles, responsibilities, and ministry clarification so we can equip volunteers to make events and ministries even better
  • Bring about health in some areas that need attention (i.e. communication, coordination, etc.)

3. EVENTS - We see this as a great opportunity to trust God! We will continue to do Ministry/Events that we have traditionally done through the years.

Please continue to pray with us and for us as we continue to move in God's leading for HIS GLORY through Harvest Springs Community Church

Our Interim Coach exists to support and coach our Elders and Staff through this initial transition process and encourage our Church body.  He will be available in a part-time capacity.

My name is Steve Strutz and I am privileged to be on the adventure with you of seeing what God has in store for you.  I have been asked to be a resource/coach for you on your journey as you move ahead after Pastor Cory’s resignation after leading you well for 23 years.  I have been in ministry for approximately 44 years in various capacities.  After graduating from George Fox University in 1976 and Western Evangelical Seminary in 1979 I was able to work with youth at Faith Evangelical Church in Billings Montana.  In 1988 I became the lead Pastor at Faith E and along the journey I was Superintendent of the Western Conference as well.  Currently I serve as Coach at Faith E.  I have 4 great kids, 3 reasonable son in laws (LOL) 7 fantastic grandkids and 1 exceptional hunting dog named Phez.  I love the out of doors, any kind of competition and most of all I love the Lord and His Church.  Thus, for me to be able to assist in any way a church like yours in transition I get very excited.  I don’t have all the answers but am looking forward to working and walking with you on the journey to what God desires for Harvest Springs. I would ask you to join with me in praying for God’s wisdom and direction as we move forward.

My wife (Janice:  Passed away in 2019) and my life verses were Proverbs 3:5,6…”Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge HIM and HE will direct your paths”.

To me that’s a promise from God.  So, together lets move ahead on our knees and watch HIM direct our paths!

On the God adventure with you,  Steve
