Christmas, the most wonderful time of year, has begun. We often neglect to notice the wonder that accompanies the Christmas season, maybe because we're busy going, buying, wrapping, giving, baking, and eating. Or perhaps the familiar story we've heard many times before has lost its wonder. G.K. Chesterton, an English writer and theologian, once wrote, "We are perishing for lack of wonder, not for lack of wonders." Wonder simply defined is the childlike awe of the unexpected. Are we intoxicated with the wonders of the works of our own hands or the wonders of a screen in our hands that we fail to wonder in amazement at God revealed in Jesus Christ, who was born as a child of wonder?
